Hobart is the capital of Tasmania. It is located between Mount Wellington and the River Derwent. It is one
of the most beautiful capitals in the world and has one of the best deepwater ports in the world.
Steeped in colonial history it was founded in 1804 and is the second oldest city in Australia. With a population
of 170,000 it retains a small town atmosphere with a relaxed laid back pace but with a cosmopolitan feel.
Salamanca place is located between the port and Battery point. Both Salamanca Place and Battery point have
many fine examples of Georgian and Victorian Architecture and both areas have an array of restaurants, shops
and pubs. Salamanca Place hosts a Saturday morning market which is a "must see".

is plenty to "see and do" with river cruises, fine wood and wine, cycling being popular choices.
It is an easy day trip to the historic town of Richmond or the former penal colony of Port Arthur. Further south

The casino, Wrestpoint is located at Sandy Bay and is a short cab ride from the centre of the city.

The Tasmanian museum and Art Gallery is 200m from the waterfront. Be sure not to miss the display

Just around the corner is the Maritime museum of Tasmania. The Tasmanian Distillery Museum boasts what is possibly the oldest still in Australia, and is 100m to
the north.
The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens was established in 1818 and is Australia's second oldest
botanic garden. The Gardens are located on the Queens Domain, 20mins walk from the city centre, on a
13.5 hectare property overlooking the Derwent River.
The Hobart Rivulet provides the water for the Cascade Brewery ﾖ Australia's oldest operational brewery.
Take a tour, sample their wares, and inspect the beautiful Woodstock gardens.
Downstream is the site of the female factory, where female convicts and their children were housed.
At its lower end, the rivulet runs under the city. Take the fascinating tour under the CDB and learn about the
historical development of the City of Hobart.
On the other side of the Derwent River, the historic gun battery at Kangaroo Bluff in Bellerive affords
panoramic views of Hobart, the Tasman Bridge and Mount Wellington. Catch the ferry to Bellerive from
Constitution Dock, and take a picturesque 20min walk along the foreshore to the bluff.
